I have been trying out new recipes in the kitchen lately. Love this breakfast muffin and wanted to share it with y'all. Here it is.

Oatmeal-Banana Power Muffins

Ingredients:

2.5 Cups Old Fashioned Oats

2 tsp Baking Powder

1 Cup plain or vanilla greek yogurt

1 tsp Baking soda

1 tsp Vanilla

2 eggs

2 Tbsp ground Flax Seed (Flax Seed Meal)

2 ripe Bananas

1/2 Cup Honey

optional: walnuts or chocolate chips for topping muffins

Preheat Oven to 350 degrees
Yields 12 muffins

Place Oats in food processor and pulse for 10 seconds

Add remaining ingredients

process until all ingredients are well incorporated and smooth

Divide among 12 liners and add any topping

Bake 19-21 mins

pull out and let cool on a wire rack

ENJOY!

These came out so moist and made my kitchen smell SO good. Next time might try adding a scoop of protein powder to make them great for breakfast on the go or after a workout.

Great tip: When your bananas are ripe but you are not ready to use them, peel, and pop in the freezer and they will keep till you are ready to bust out some yummy muffins or banana bread!

Psalms 46:10

Being Still... with a seven month old that's a rare occurrence. Lil Man keeps me busy. moving. The fact that this is being written with him sitting in his highchair is a miracle I feel. But that verse has been on my heart since bible study yesterday. It hit me like a load of bricks.

We are going through a bible study called Breathe: Making room for the Sabbath, by Priscilla Shirer. (I Highly recommend it and you can find it here on amazon.com) It talks about how we need to put boundaries around even the good things in our life so we don't allow ourselves to become a slave to that thing, activity, or routine. That God intended for us to have breathing room in our life and that is one reason why He created the Sabbath. That we had a day of rest. But the author also talk about the Sabbath as being a mindset. To put Sabbath boundaries on our life. To resist the urge to continue. To rest. Learning that it is OK to put boundaries on our life to allow breathing room. Isn't that so freeing to know? Maybe I am the only one having this revelation but that's alright. I am slowly getting the hang of this whole Stay-at-home mom, homemaker role I have taken on since I stopped working. Sometimes I wonder why I was so excited in the first place. How do I find joy in the endless dishes and laundry? I usually have music or the TV on when I'm cleaning because I'm not going to lie, I HATE cleaning. My best friend Jess can attest to this from when we lived together. Haha good memories.

But amidst the chaos, am I missing something? An opportunity to talk with my God and listen for His voice? I think God wants me to know He is the God of dirty dishes and laundry piles. He can meet me even in the mundane of my everyday. I just need to shut down the chaos and talk with God. He doesn't mind if I do dishes while we chat, does He?

Well that's all. Just wanted to share a little of what was on my heart. Hope it blesses someone else :) LBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03829961740226018054noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9079414261586240325.post-21493437293109509242015-02-11T17:11:00.001-08:002015-02-11T17:11:06.743-08:00Wordless Wednesday: My V-day Crush

This recipe is one I have been making for the last few months and we love it in my house. It's a very simple "dump" meal where most of the ingredients are not needing to be measured and you just dump them into the pot. This provides that as you make this yummy meal it will probably develop into a unique meal for your family. Hope you enjoy!

Well He is finally here! My little man, my whole world....my son. I could not be a more proud and in love momma. As hard as parts of the past few weeks have been, it's a blessing in disguise. A good friend, who also just had a baby back in May, told me that we make it through these first few weeks, the hardest ones, by the grace of God and nothing else. And it has only been by His grace that I have made it through some of these long nights where we struggled with breastfeeding, sleeplessness (on Ayden's part), or any number of other newborn daily struggles. This is one of the hardest and most rewarding things I have ever done.

Here is a little recap on how this little peanut came into this world:
There we were at 40 weeks, 2 days and he had still refused to turn. My parents had arrived in town the day before and were anxiously waiting to meet their first grandchild. So Ken and I gathered our things and headed to the hospital that morning, June 26th, 2014 for our scheduled c-section. So many emotions, fear and excitement, running through my mind. This is not at all how I planned my sons birth to occur. I had researched, I had prepared, my birth plan was typed! I felt defeated and in some way responsible, AS IF I could have in anyway changed that my son was stuck and too big to turn. And for the record, we tried!

"Leave it to a little boy, to

ruin mom's best laid plans."

We met my friend Trisha on the way up to Labor and Delivery. "let's have a baby!" I said to her as we made our way to check in. She was going to be with me through my labor and delivery but since plans had changed, she would be with us in the room before and after the c-section instead.

My great friend Jess had been entrusted with photographing this event and arrived just in the nick of time to shoot a few pictures right before they whisked me away to the OR (Operating Room). Ken was handed a pair of scrubs, a hat, and a mask. He would get to sit by my side during it all, but had to be in hospital garb.

Once that had me all hooked up and my spinal block had been done, Ken was allowed to come assume his place in a little chair right next to my head. An OR is not a very warm and fuzzy place to be, let alone be relaxed when you're awake while in one. I could not have done this, bringing my little man into the world, if Ken had not been there to hold my hand and talk me through it all. I was numb from the chest down but I could feel pressure and tugging as they made their way in to getting Ayden out and into the world.

Then, I heard that first cry. It was all over then. I was in love. Hadn't even seen him yet and I was in love. Then they held his little body up over the curtain in-between me and the doctor and I saw his wrinkly little body. The cutest baby you'd ever seen. That moment is forever etched in my mind. I was really a mom now. That screaming baby getting checked over by the NICU nurse, was mine. And you better believe he came out kicking and screaming. I have never heard a baby scream so loud, but he was mad and he was going to be heard. :)

Ken had the camera with him and was taking pictures the moment Ayden landed under the warmer. Once he had been checked once over and cleared by the NICU nurse, they wrapped him and gave him to Ken until Dr. L. was finished closing me up. When all was said and done we were in the OR for less than 30 minutes total.

I could not stop crying when I first held him in that OR. All my anxiety and fear of having surgery had fallen away and I could not contain the smile on my face from seeing this little tiny human that I had created.

We made it back to the recovery room where Trisha and Jess were waiting and Jess jumped on taking pictures of everything, which I am so grateful I had her there to do that. I then had a 2 hour window to start breastfeeding if he would latch and to be monitored before we were taken to our postpartum room.

A special thanks to go out to my nurse Debbie who was absolutely AMAZING throughout the entire prep, c-section and recovery. She helped and made me feel safe, encouraged, understood, and relaxed. The PERFECT Labor and Delivery nurse you could ever have. And that meant so much.

There could not be any greater privilege or responsibility than being blessed with a child and I could not fathom trading it for anything in the world. I pray everyday that God is giving me the strength and wisdom to raise this little guy into a man of God.

Something is comforting about little-kid food to calm this pregnant momma. YUM! Being 38 weeks pregnant is definitely rough ya’ll but the excitement is building on getting to actually hold my little guy. And the excitement is building on both ends I think. They like to monitor you an hour before and at least an hour after just to make sure baby isn’t showing signs of distress. Nope, no distress in this little man and we were back home to rest. I had never had swelling in my feet much before these past two months. New experiences I suppose. Gives me a good reason to prop my feet up when I get home, which is nice. Speaking of home, the nursery is coming together. We have a built crib and a dresser that is en route to us as I am writing this. Instead of a pile of stuff in our apartment, it looks like we might be having a baby soon. </xml><![endif]-->This is a topic I had not put very much thought towards until I got the news
that my little guy, at 36 weeks, is breech. I kind of felt like I had been
punched in the gut. What did I do wrong? Is there a way I could have prevented
this? Am I now destined to have a c-section no matter what? Well a good dose of
prayer and some research later I have discovered a few things.
To start, what does a breech baby really mean?

Breech is when baby does not turn and point his head downward towards the
birth canal. There are three common breech positions; Frank breech, Complete
breech, and Footling breech. He is an illustration:

Factoid: 1 in every 25 full term births
are breech (Americanpregnancy.org)

While there are no known reasons why babies decide not to turn at the
appropriate time; in some cases it can mean problems in the uterus, distress on
part of the baby, or early labor. But do not start stressing out quite yet and
scheduling an early c-section. Let’s look at the options for mama’s and their
babies.
Once at 36 weeks, if a breech diagnosis is given, your doctor will be
keeping a closer eye on you. Preferably they do not want you to go into labor
with a breech baby as it makes things more complicated. It’s time to start
trying to coax baby into turning.
Disclaimer: There are tons of crazy methods that people will claim to be the
most effective. None of these methods are necessarily 100% effective
and always talk to your doctor beforehand to make sure these are safe for you
and your baby.
Because of the risks, rule of thumb is that this
is preformed no earlier than 35 weeks.

After all these exercises and procedures, some babies will still just not
budge. It’s even possible for you to have a successful ECV and your little one
decides to flip back before you go into labor. Don’t be disheartened. From here
there is still a choice to be made.
If the stars align and baby is in the Frank breech position there is still a
small option to birth vaginally. A lot of doctors and hospitals will not let
you birth breech period but some will. Talk with your doctor and see if you are
a good candidate for this if you are wanting to avoid c-section at all cost.
However keep in mind it could still end in a c-section if your labor does not
progress smoothly and the baby is in distress.
I many cases, if your little one is still breech after all your maneuvering
and coaxing, your doctor will suggest to schedule a c-section for sometime in
your 39th week. It’s better to have the c-section before you
are thrown into full labor, as there can be fewer
complications. However, there is always a possibility that baby can
flip even right before your c-section. Because of this possibility you will
have an ultrasound and exam before you go into the Operating Room to check baby
placement and position in case of a change. Even as common as cesarean sections
are becoming, there are still risks as it is major abdominal surgery. Make sure
to understand all the risks and give yourself plenty of time to recover after
it’s all said and done. You’ll need it.
Always remember God is in control of your birth. Be it without any medical
intervention or by the steady hands of a surgeon. As hard as it is, we have to
trust Him with our babies and know He is with us the whole way, no matter the
outcome.
Hormones must be raging but that means my body is prepping for the finale. I cannot WAIT to meet my little Ayden! I am now down to weekly doctor appointments. I have my first internal exam and the doc said I am 0cm dilated, so no progression yet. Right before I went to my appointment I had my 9 month growth ultrasound. To our surprise, Little Ayden is actually average size. 6lbs and 2 oz. Unfortunately, He is also getting comfy in the breech position. According to Doc if he doesn’t flip by next week we should discuss having ECV preformed to try and manually turn him while he is still en-utero.

Life has been crazy and I apologize for not getting up a week 30 update. So here is an update for the past few weeks.
I had my 32 week appointment on Monday, and Doc says everything looks great. I have been consistently measuring a week ahead of my due date and doc thinks baby might end up being a big boy :) Ultrasound to check growth is scheduled for May 27th. I'm still a bit in shock that in about 8 weeks I will be holding my little man in my arms. That's right Grandpa (Dad)! 8 weeks and counting! Haha. Had to make a shout out to my dad whom I feel is shocked every time I mention how soon his little grandpeanut is going to be here. Quite a milestone and it is approaching fast! Getting around at work is becoming significantly more difficult but I am hanging in there. My coworkers are the best. They really have encouraged me every step of the way. Little Ayden has definitely run out of wiggle room and therefore it feels like a kick-boxer has taken over residence in my womb. Haha. He is already vying for mom's attention and he has not even been born yet.We had a wonderful Easter. We helped out with the pancake breakfast
before the service at church and ran the drink station. Watched and
enjoyed a wonderful Easter play put on as part of service. It ended up
being a crazy day but ended with a steak and asparagus dinner with my
Hubby. Could not have asked for a better end to Resurrection Day. YUM! We also started our childbirth prep class at the hospital. We have the best instructor ever! I am excited to go back this week. She is so energetic and knowledgeable about all things pregnancy, labor and delivery. My husband likes her approach too and I think he is soaking in all the info. She is definitely pro-natural birth. You can tell by the way she words everything, emphasizing on the pain relief techniques we will be learning and the fact that the first 3 of our 5 classes are going to be spent on natural birth, unmediated. God is definitely putting people in my path to help me out. He is so faithful to do that is He not?

Currently my cravings are golden Oreos and good ole' fashioned french toast :) I have definitely hit the sweets craving stage lol. I have also decided that these onsie rompers are my favorite thing ever. Hope Ayden doesn't mind cause that's all he is going to be wearing!
We also had our baby shower at church a few Saturdays ago and it
was a wonderful success! Of course it was baby elephant themed and stuck
with the teal and orange color scheme. The food was wonderful and we had the most adorable cupcakes made by a wonderful lady, Christy Gott, from Highly Flavored cupcakes.
<span style="font-family: "Rockwell","serif";">As a wife, are we not given the privilege
and responsibility to keep our husband (or future husband) at the top of our prayer list? This is
concept that is not often thought about. We often are prompted to pray for our
lives, our worries, a big decision, a sick or hurting friend, etc. How much
more important should it be that we lift our husbands (or future husband) in
prayer every day? Paul wrote that we should all pray for each other, Ephesians 6:18. <span style="font-family: "Rockwell","serif";">This has been on my mind for some time now and I thought

The Great Commission. After Jesus rose from the dead, He gave the first disciples a mission, a calling for their lives. I feel like we often forget this command Jesus gave and need to be reminded, so that we can remember our calling to continue in our own lives.

At 30 weeks pregnant I am finding there are certain things I find very hard to do. One of these activities is reaching my toes :) All I wanted today was to take off the polish and trim my toenails. A necessary evil, but none the less it was time. I tried sitting on the floor, propping my foot on my knee, standing with one foot on a chair. No matter which way you bent my body, that pregnant belly was in between me and my toes. I was telling my husband of these woes later in the car and he mentioned that he could just do it for me. (This mind you came after the comment where I stated I was just going to go get a pedicure and be done with it!) Well I laughed a little bit, but an hour later we found ourselves sitting on the couch, watching the movie UP, while my husband removed the polish and trimmed my toenails. Such a servants heart and he only complained a tiny bit, more so to make me laugh at him than anything else.
I have no clue what I would do without this man in my life. He loves me unconditionally and without reserve. In all my pregnant glory and never ending hormonal ups and downs, he is along for the ride. He stands right next to me and helps me laugh through the hard and in the good times enjoy the wonder of this little life growing inside of me. He is going to make a wonderful and amazing father. Granted I am biased, however, I could not have asked God for a better man to live out my life with. He has blessed me in so many ways and in 10 weeks I will get the privilege of blessing him with a son. I cannot wait to see where this new adventure of parenthood will take us. We will just have to wait and see. LBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03829961740226018054noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9079414261586240325.post-52899860969562293052014-04-10T15:13:00.003-07:002014-04-10T15:14:20.698-07:00Pregnancy Funny :)

Pregnancy is hard on a relationship, a marriage. Not enough sleep, stress, and high emotion can lead to hurtful words, anger, or even the feelings of discontent. As I read this verse I know this will be a scripture that will help us through the final leg of time before Ayden is born. ALWAYS keep God at the center of it all. Never doubt his healing power and the overwhelming peace only He can bring into your life.

Lunch Box worthy!

I love cooking and if I can find a way to make something
cheaper than buying it in the store, Why Not?!
As I am always on the hunt for lunch counterparts and fillers,
thought I'd take a swing at granola bars.
I found this recipe on mommysavers.com and they could not have been easier.

Here's the recipe:

Easy Four-Ingredient Homemade Granola Bars
2 C. quick oats

1/2 C. honey

1/2 C. brown sugar

1 stick butter or margarine, softened but not melted
Chocolate chips (optional) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Thoroughly mix all ingredients in large bowl.
Line a 9x13 baking pan with parchment paper and then dump in mixture.
Press in and smooth out until mixture is even and level.
Bake for 10-11 minutes
Allow to cool slightly and then cut into bars. Let bars sit until completely cooled off.
Then brake apart the rest of the way.
I wrapped mine individually in plastic wrap to be lunch box friendly.

yields about 12 bars (depending how thick you want them to be)

These were so inexpensive and easy to make. Definitely going to make these a weekly addition to our brown bag lunches for work. They taste better than store bought and I know every ingredient I put in mine which I really like.
Happy snacking!LBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03829961740226018054noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9079414261586240325.post-34855982074898217502014-04-05T20:20:00.001-07:002015-04-29T14:49:43.669-07:00Week 28 Update
IT'S OFFICIAL! Hello 3rd Trimester! I am on a baby elephant kick still :)
We are going to go with Baby elephant theme through out the nursery. I can't wait to meet my little guy! The time is almost here. Ken finally felt Ayden kick two nights ago. He was so excited! Haha. He has been trying to feel him move for weeks now. He could not have been happier. A good day.
We are slowly preparing for baby. Received another package from amazon in the mail with more cloth diapers and planet wise diaper pail liner. We have decided to cloth diaper from the very start so I not only have some AIO newborn diapers but I have also bought some prefolds and covers. The stash is coming together. I am getting excited about my Baby shower at church next Saturday. My Best Friend Jess Pentecost has been planning for weeks and can't wait to have a great time with friends. Jess has also been gradually taking maternity pictures of me over the past months and we took some new ones this week. She posted them on her blog but here is a peek at my favorite. Please go check out the rest!
I am slowly growing larger and I have quite a waddle when I walk. I can't fully bend over anymore. Tying my shoes has become a multistage process. Most of the time they don't ever get untied and just slipped on and off. I am very tired after work everyday. Trying to remember to do my exercises everyday. I get in most of my squatting at work everyday, but I have to consciously remind myself to do my pelvic rocking and kegals.
I feel like I pulled a muscle in my belly from lifting at work, so I am working to be more careful at work and at home when lifting. This is a list of updates that I thought would be fun to fill out for this week. Enjoy!
