Prayer and Husbands

As a wife, are we not given the privilege and responsibility to keep our husband (or future husband) at the top of our prayer list? This is concept that is not often thought about. We often are prompted to pray for our lives, our worries, a big decision, a sick or hurting friend, etc. How much more important should it be that we lift our husbands (or future husband) in prayer every day? Paul wrote that we should all pray for each other, Ephesians 6:18. This has been on my mind for some time now and I thought putting it into writing would be great for anyone else who has been feeling the same way.
Satan seeks to destroy Godly marriage in every way he can. However I believe prayer is powerful and we can beat Satan in his endeavors. All we need is to trust God everyday as we surrender our husbands and marriage to God. One way I am going to build this concept into my day to day is to start with a great concept I found on the blog below.

This post speaks to praying everyday, for 31days, for a different aspect of my husband, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. I think this is a great starter for when you aren’t sure what to pray. It gives a direction to go in. I can’t wait to see how God uses this to bless my husband.

Day 1:
Pray that your husband will grow spiritually and consider his accountability before the Lord. Pray that he will guard his heart by developing spiritual disciplines—Bible reading and study, prayer, meditation, scripture memorization, etc. (2 Peter 3:18; Prov. 4:23)

I also found this great list:
A great way to keep track of your prayers is to journal. Keep a record of your prayers and see how God answers them and works in your Husbands life and your marriage. Find time to pray for your husband this week. Bend God's ear for the man in your life and lift him up.

Scripture of the Week: April 20, 2014

The Great Commission. After Jesus rose from the dead, He gave the first disciples a mission, a calling for their lives. I feel like we often forget this command Jesus gave and need to be reminded, so that we can remember our calling to continue in our own lives.

Scripture of the Week: April 13, 2014

Husbands...

I just want to take a moment to brag on my husband. At 30 weeks pregnant I am finding there are certain things I find very hard to do. One of these activities is reaching my toes :) All I wanted today was to take off the polish and trim my toenails. A necessary evil, but none the less it was time. I tried sitting on the floor, propping my foot on my knee, standing with one foot on a chair. No matter which way you bent my body, that pregnant belly was in between me and my toes. I was telling my husband of these woes later in the car and he mentioned that he could just do it for me. (This mind you came after the comment where I stated I was just going to go get a pedicure and be done with it!) Well I laughed a little bit, but an hour later we found ourselves sitting on the couch, watching the movie UP, while my husband removed the polish and trimmed my toenails. Such a servants heart and he only complained a tiny bit, more so to make me laugh at him than anything else.
I have no clue what I would do without this man in my life. He loves me unconditionally and without reserve. In all my pregnant glory and never ending hormonal ups and downs, he is along for the ride. He stands right next to me and helps me laugh through the hard and in the good times enjoy the wonder of this little life growing inside of me. He is going to make a wonderful and amazing father. Granted I am biased, however, I could not have asked God for a better man to live out my life with. He has blessed me in so many ways and in 10 weeks I will get the privilege of blessing him with a son. I cannot wait to see where this new adventure of parenthood will take us. We will just have to wait and see.

Scripture of the Week: April 6, 2014

Pregnancy is hard on a relationship, a marriage. Not enough sleep, stress, and high emotion can lead to hurtful words, anger, or even the feelings of discontent. As I read this verse I know this will be a scripture that will help us through the final leg of time before Ayden is born. ALWAYS keep God at the center of it all. Never doubt his healing power and the overwhelming peace only He can bring into your life.

Homemade Chocolate Chip granola bars

Lunch Box worthy!
I love cooking and if I can find a way to make something
cheaper than buying it in the store, Why Not?!
As I am always on the hunt for lunch counterparts and fillers,
thought I'd take a swing at granola bars.
I found this recipe on mommysavers.com and they could not have been easier.

Here's the recipe:

Easy Four-Ingredient Homemade Granola Bars

2 C. quick oats

1/2 C. honey
1/2 C. brown sugar
1 stick butter or margarine, softened but not melted
 Chocolate chips (optional)                   ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Thoroughly mix all ingredients in large bowl.
Line a 9x13 baking pan with parchment paper and then dump in mixture.
Press in and smooth out until mixture is even and level.
Bake for 10-11 minutes
Allow to cool slightly and then cut into bars. Let bars sit until completely cooled off.
Then brake apart the rest of the way.
I wrapped mine individually in plastic wrap to be lunch box friendly.

yields about 12 bars (depending how thick you want them to be)

These were so inexpensive and easy to make. Definitely going to make these a weekly addition to our brown bag lunches for work. They taste better than store bought and I know every ingredient I put in mine which I really like.
Happy snacking!

Week 28 Update

IT'S OFFICIAL! Hello 3rd Trimester! I am on a baby elephant kick still :)
We are going to go with Baby elephant theme through out the nursery. I can't wait to meet my little guy! The time is almost here. Ken finally felt Ayden kick two nights ago. He was so excited! Haha. He has been trying to feel him move for weeks now. He could not have been happier. A good day.
We are slowly preparing for baby. Received another package from amazon in the mail with more cloth diapers and planet wise diaper pail liner. We have decided to cloth diaper from the very start so I not only have some AIO newborn diapers but I have also bought some prefolds and covers. The stash is coming together. I am getting excited about my Baby shower at church next Saturday. My Best Friend Jess Pentecost has been planning for weeks and can't wait to have a great time with friends. Jess has also been gradually taking maternity pictures of me over the past months and we took some new ones this week. She posted them on her blog but here is a peek at my favorite. Please go check out the rest!

I am slowly growing larger and I have quite a waddle when I walk. I can't fully bend over anymore. Tying my shoes has become a multistage process. Most of the time they don't ever get untied and just slipped on and off. I am very tired after work everyday. Trying to remember to do my exercises everyday. I get in most of my squatting at work everyday, but I have to consciously remind myself to do my pelvic rocking and kegals.
I feel like I pulled a muscle in my belly from lifting at work, so I am working to be more careful at work and at home when lifting. This is a list of updates that I thought would be fun to fill out for this week. Enjoy!

Gender: Boy!!

Total Weight Gain:
So far about 27lbs which isn't bad.

Exercise:
Been taking walks with pup and hubby, when the weather is nice

Food cravings/aversions:
Been craving a lot of sweets

Signs of Stretch Marks:
Still using Burt's Bees Belly Butter!

Maternity Clothes: Still fitting. Going to need some new sundresses here soon as this weather warms up!

Sleep:
Broken at best. I probably wake up about 3 or 4 times a night readjusting and rolling over. Never feels like I’ve slept long enough.

Feeling:
Stretched this week. Bending over has become a thing of the past. I have to remind myself to squat when I can’t reach things on the ground.

Baby Movement:
He is rolling around in there. I can feel him stretching out a lot. He also likes to kick A LOT at night.

Belly Button In or Out?
Still in but getting flat and you can tell it is being stretched thin.

Wedding Rings On or Off?
On but fingers are swelling from time to time so I remove it at home.
